Immy Churchill

Jazz Vocalist

Immy Churchill is a jazz vocalist, singer-songwriter, lyricist and educator studying at The Royal Academy of Music. She has been described as a “rising star”, striding out in the London jazz scene and playing her own original music at venues such as The Green Note, Pizza Express Holborn and The Vortex. This is also extended to performances alongside Emma Rawicz’s Quintet and Jazz Orchestra at Ronnie Scott’s and The Jazz Cafe.

As a member of The London Vocal Project, Immy has played with the likes of Norma Winstone and Dave Holland (recently recording with them on an upcoming album) as well as being involved in Jon Hendricks’ Miles Ahead… extending to gigs with LVP at venues such as The King’s Place, The Royal Albert Hall, Pizza Express Live and The Royal Festival Hall.

Immy is part of pianist Lukas DeRungs’ quintet and has been on tour both with this band and alongside Jazz-Choir Freiburg around Germany and Switzerland with the KOSMOS Suite (recorded on Berthold Records). As a member of Florian Arbenz’ band, she has worked alongside Jim Hart, Percy Pursglove, Christy Doran and Ivo Neame. Other recording opportunities have included working on Emma Rawicz’ recent album ‘Chroma’ released with ACT; singing alongside Rawicz, Ivo Neame, Ant Law, Asaf Sirkis and Conor Chaplin.

Immy looks to embrace not only the lyrical quality of being a singer but also the joys of singing wordlessly and improvising. Her influences range from Joni Mitchell and James Taylor to Ella Fitzgerald and Norma Winstone, providing her with a wide breadth of musical knowledge that sets her apart as a vocalist.
